SCHOOL HISTORY

According to the people of Catmon, the school begun somewhere in Hernandez St. in a makeshift classroom called “Mababang Paaralan ng Catmon” in 1956. Because of the very small population, it started with only one grade, Grade I. Mrs. Virtudes Lopez was the Grade One Teacher. Once they finished elementary grades. As years passed by with the help of the civic minded citizens and the Barangay officials a two (2) – classroom buildings were constructed way back on 1962, called it Dizon Annex with its first principal Mrs. Benita Casimiro. A four –classroom building called Marcos Type was built 1968; followed by Rodriguez Building in October 1989; Vicencio Building on 1998; PGMA Semp/classroom Building, 2004 and recently the PLDT Building, 2005. Because of the progress and growing population, Catmon Elementary School continued to develop to accommodate all school age children.

To protect and promote the right of every Filipino to quality, equitable, culture-based, and complete basic education where: Students learn in a child-friendly, gender-sensitive, safe, and motivating environment. Teachers facilitate learning and constantly nurture every learner. Administrators and staff, as stewards of the institution, ensure an enabling and supportive environment for effective learning to happen. Family, community, and other stakeholders are actively engaged and share responsibility for developing life-long learners.

We dream of Filipinos who passionately love their country and whose values and competencies enable them to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to building the nation. As a learner-centered public institution, the Department of Education continuously improves itself to better serve its stakeholders.
